Chile hails death of Tren de Aragua leader as major blow to criminal network

Chile's Security Minister Martín Arrau said the death of Héctor Guerrero Flores, the top commander of the transnational Tren de Aragua gang, was a "relevant blow" against the organization. Guerrero was killed in Venezuela during a coordinated operation involving the United States and Venezuelan authorities, according to U.S. President Donald Trump.

Arrau praised the cooperation and noted that Chile had recently dismantled a money‑laundering scheme linked to the gang, arresting about twenty people and seizing assets tied to extortion, contraband and other crimes. He emphasized that while the loss of a leader is significant, the fight against the group's cells will continue with intensified international security coordination.
