Chile Health Ministry Requests Resignations of Metropolitan South and Magallanes Health Service Directors

The Subsecretaría de Redes Asistenciales, part of Chile's Ministry of Health, announced on August 3, 2026 that it is requesting the resignation of the directors of the Metropolitan South and Magallanes Health Services, citing a loss of confidence in both officials. The agency also said it will modify the order of subrogation for the Viña del Mar‑Quillota Health Service to guarantee operational continuity and strengthen management of the public health network.

In its statement, the Subsecretaría thanked the outgoing authorities for their work and reaffirmed the government's commitment to improve the public health system, emphasizing more efficient, timely, and people‑centered care.

"As Government, we reaffirm our commitment to continue strengthening the public health network, promoting more efficient and timely management, and ensuring resources reach where they are most needed," the ministry said.
