Chile health system faces clinic crisis and prolonged waiting times

Clínica Las Condes launched a campaign titled "Vuelven los médicos. Vuelve Clínica Las Condes" to announce the return of more than 300 specialists after a turbulent period under the control of the Auguri Group and former president Alejandro Gil. The clinic had endured disputes over fees, departures of hundreds of doctors, legal accusations of misappropriation, and a sharp drop in revenue. Ownership shifted in January 2025 when Auguri sold its 55.75% stake to Clínica Indisa and EuroAmerica.

At the same time, Chile's broader health system continues to grapple with long waiting lists, a shortage of specialists, and challenges in delivering up‑to‑date clinical information at the point of care. Experts highlight the need for better data integration, infrastructure, and financing to ensure patients receive timely, well‑informed treatment, even as telemedicine and interoperability efforts make incremental progress.
