Chile Heritage Day 2026: railway tours in Arica, palace visits in Santiago

On Saturday, 30 May, the state railway operator EFE launched three special tourist train trips from the Antepuerto in Arica to the historic Maestranza Chinchorro as part of Chile’s Día del Patrimonio 2026. The free rides, running at 9:30, 11:20 and 12:50, are offered on a first‑come, first‑served basis and include guided tours of the railway workshop, with safety clothing required for visitors.

In Santiago, the 19th‑century Palacio Cousiño opened its doors to the public on 30‑31 May for the same heritage celebrations. Admission is free for groups of up to 35 people, with scheduled entry at 09:30 and 14:00. The palace, a former elite mining family residence, showcases preserved furnishings, European‑style décor and historic architecture, offering insight into Chile’s economic and cultural past.
