Chile hosts new art exhibitions at major universities

The Universidad de La Serena is hosting “Jote o Colibrí,” an exhibition by visual artist Raúl Sotelo. The collection features paintings, drawings, and engravings spanning various stages of Sotelo’s career, including works from his early years in fine arts to more recent engravings and drawings.

Separately, Chile will participate in the first International Triennial of Art of Catholic Universities (ARTCUT), an initiative by the Holy See’s Dicastery for Culture and Education. The Chilean component, titled “Ejercicios de Empatía: Tramas de lo vivo,” is organized by the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and is set to open on September 3. This exhibition, the largest contemporary art event organized by the institution, will feature approximately twenty national and international artists. Displays will be held at the Museo de Artes Visuales MAVI UC, with additional interventions at the Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino, the Parroquia de la Veracruz, and the Bodegón Cultural de Los Vilos.
