Chile launches bid for 2030 Hockey World Cup

Chile has officially launched its candidacy to host the 2030 Field Hockey World Cup. The bid is a joint effort involving the municipalities of Ñuñoa, Antofagasta, and San Pedro de la Paz, supported by the Chilean Hockey Federation. The proposal aims to host both men’s and women’s championships, utilizing infrastructure such as the Grass Hockey Center at Parque Estadio Nacional in Ñuñoa, which was developed for the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. By including cities in the north and south, the bid seeks to expand the sport's presence beyond the Santiago metropolitan area and foster long-term athletic development.

In Argentina, the Honorable Deliberative Council of Berazategui passed Ordinance 6884 to recognize local athletes for their achievements in the 2026 Men’s and Women’s Hockey World Cups. Nehuén Hernando and Ignacio Ibarra, players for the national men’s team “Los Leones,” were named Outstanding Athletes following their bronze medal win. Additionally, Leonardo Romagnoli, Joaquín Perales, and Jorge Talia were recognized as Outstanding Sports Personalities for their roles as coaches and physical trainers for the women’s national team, “Las Leonas,” who secured the gold medal.
