Chile launches free pre‑university prep and tutoring to close gaps

CMPC and the nonprofit Formando Chile have begun a free pre‑university program for 138 students in the Biobío region’s communes of Laja and San Rosendo. The initiative provides in‑person academic support to prepare students for the PAES university‑entrance exam, aiming to reduce long‑standing access disparities. Participants praised the resource, noting it offers opportunities unavailable to those who cannot afford private preparation.

Separately, the foundation Conectado Aprendo has started a national campaign inviting supporters to fund personalized online tutoring for children and adolescents across Chile. Using its E‑Sisu platform, tutors work weekly with learners to address gaps in language and mathematics that widened after the pandemic. The program, which has already helped more than 10,000 students, seeks further contributions to expand its reach.
