Chile launches Ruta Social to aid homeless populations

The Ministry of Social Development and Family, in collaboration with Carabineros de Chile, has launched the ‘Ruta Social’ initiative to support people experiencing homelessness during the winter season. The program, part of the ‘Noche Digna’ initiative, will operate for 80 consecutive days to provide food and direct assistance.

In the Coquimbo Region, specifically in the communes of La Serena and Ovalle, the program aims to reach vulnerable individuals at their locations of transit or overnight stay. The project anticipates providing a total of 3,200 services, with a daily deployment of 20 assistance sessions in both La Serena and Ovalle.
