Chile launches sensory rooms for students as Guatemala begins 2027 budget hearings
In Chile, the government has launched a program to implement 24 sensory rooms across 21 communes in the La Araucanía region. With an investment exceeding $329 million from the Ministry of Education, the initiative aims to improve inclusion, autonomy, and learning for students with sensory needs. The first room was inaugurated at the CEDI We Nepen in Loncoche, which received over $13 million for civil works and specialized equipment.
In Guatemala, the Public Finance and Currency Commission of Congress has begun hearings to analyze the 2027 General Budget proposal. The project, totaling Q192,045.1 million, was presented by Vice Minister of Public Finance Walter Figueroa and Bank of Guatemala President Jonathan Menkos. The budget aims to strengthen tax administration and improve the efficiency of public spending and investment. Subsequent hearings are scheduled with the Ministry of Social Development and the Ministry of Education.
