Chile opens applications for 2027 Environmental Protection Fund

The Chilean Ministry of the Environment has announced the opening of applications for the 30th edition of the Environmental Protection Fund (FPA) for 2027. This national program, established in 1998, provides direct financing to non-profit citizen organizations to support local environmental initiatives.

Selected projects can receive up to $6,000,000 CLP each. Eligible applicants include neighborhood councils, sports clubs, parent-teacher associations, foundations, indigenous communities, and cultural centers. The fund focuses on several key areas, including climate change and decontamination, circular economy and waste management, biodiversity conservation, and renewable energy efficiency. All projects are required to integrate environmental education as a core component.

In the Antofagasta region, the fund has a significant history, having supported over 180 projects with a cumulative investment exceeding $1,030 million CLP. The 2027 call includes specific categories for indigenous peoples, citizen projects, and educational establishments.
