Chile poll shows crime as top concern and Kast approval drops to 30%

A new Activa Research "Pulso Ciudadano" poll indicates that 51.3% of Chileans now consider crime the country's main problem, an increase of 11 percentage points since the previous survey in mid‑June. The same poll shows a sharp rise in disapproval of President José Antonio Kast, reaching 56.9%, the highest level since he took office, while his approval fell to 30.1%. Negative evaluations also extended to security, narcotrafficking and the economy, with 57.8% rating the government's handling of drug trafficking as "bad or very bad" and 56.1% rating its control of crime similarly. Economic performance was judged poorly by 52.5% of respondents. Trust in the president is low, with 54.9% saying they have "little or no confidence".
