Chile President José Antonio Kast hits record disapproval in June poll

A new Pulso Ciudadano poll conducted by Activa Research from 10‑12 June 2026 surveyed 1,036 Chileans and found President José Antonio Kast’s disapproval rate rise to 56.7%, the highest level since he took office on 11 March 2026. Approval fell to 30.5% while 12.8% gave no opinion, and 53.4% expressed little or no confidence in his leadership.

The strongest disapproval was among young adults aged 18‑30, residents of the Metropolitan Region, and left‑leaning voters. The poll also measured public sentiment on the Treasury’s recent embargo of bank accounts belonging to debtors of the Crédito con Aval del Estado (CAE). Respondents were split, with 37.4% supporting the measure and 40.4% opposing it. Additionally, 41.6% rated the CAE financing system as bad or very bad, compared with 31.1% who saw it as good or very good.

These results highlight growing public criticism of the government’s policies and suggest potential challenges for the administration moving forward.
