Chile President José Antonio Kast's approval climbs to 40% in latest poll

A new Criteria poll released on 7 June shows Chilean President José Antonio Kast gaining four percentage points in approval, reaching 40%, while his disapproval fell to 47%. The survey also recorded an uptick in public confidence that the government has a clear security plan, rising from 12% to 22%, and a decline in the view that the administration is improvising, dropping to 39%.

Respondents rated the president’s ability to grow the economy most favorably (56%) and to provide stability (51%). The poll reflected mixed views on the handling of the country’s “emergency situation,” with both “correct” and “incorrect” assessments converging at 40%. Security and housing remained top citizen priorities, and the proposed National Vandalism Registry received majority support.
