Chile President Kast Announces One‑Time Child Benefit of 30,000 pesos

President José Antonio Kast unveiled a new "Bono por Hijo" that will provide a single payment of 30,000 Chilean pesos for each child aged 0‑13 in qualifying households. Eligibility requires families to rank in the 80 % most vulnerable segment of the Registro Social de Hogares. The benefit is cumulative—families with two children would receive 60,000 pesos, three children 90,000 pesos—and will be paid only once, pending congressional approval.

The measure is intended to ease the early‑year costs of raising children for middle‑ and low‑income families, complementing other social‑aid programs under the current administration's budget plan.
