Chile provides humanitarian aid to Colombia for wildfire response
The government of Chile has announced a humanitarian donation to Colombia to assist in combating severe wildfires. The fires have affected more than 92,000 hectares of forests and crops in recent months.
Funded by the Fondo Chile contra el Hambre y la Pobreza, the aid is intended to strengthen the operational capacities of five fire departments. The donation includes personal protective equipment for five crews—comprising helmets, gloves, boots, and specialized clothing—as well as specialized tools.
Additionally, the aid includes three DJI Mavic 3 Thermal drones to improve monitoring, identify hotspots, and generate geospatial information for emergency decision-making. The support also includes certification for six firefighters to operate these drones under Colombian aeronautical regulations.
