Chile ranks 51st in immigration index as Colombia expands robotics education
Chile has reached 51st place in the 2026 Immigration Index developed by Remitly, according to recent evaluations of 192 countries. While the country faces challenges regarding security, it stands out globally for the quality of its public transportation system. The index highlights a shift in international mobility, where potential migrants increasingly prioritize stability, healthcare, and infrastructure alongside traditional economic factors like salary.
In Colombia, educational initiatives are focusing on robotics and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) to prepare students for a changing labor market. Supported by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, the country is implementing technological laboratories to provide hands-on experience in programming and automation. This strategy aims to bridge the educational gap between major cities and regional territories, equipping youth with skills necessary for industries driven by artificial intelligence and automation.
