Chile reaches record 2,000 deportations in 2026
Chile has reached a historic milestone by recording 2,000 deportations before the end of October 2026. This figure represents a 57.6% increase compared to the total 1,267 deportations recorded throughout 2025. The monthly average for 2026 has risen to approximately 203 deportations, up from a 2022–2025 average of 91 per month.
Recent operations include an eleventh flight operated by Sky Airline from Arturo Merino Benítez Airport, transporting 75 individuals to Peru, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic. Of those, 69 were administrative deportations and six were judicial deportations.
In addition to formal deportations, there has been a significant rise in voluntary departures. During 2026, 11,011 foreigners who entered through unauthorized crossings chose to leave the country via police control, nearly tripling the 4,253 voluntary departures recorded in 2025. Migration inspections also increased by 24.7% between January and September 2026 compared to the same period in 2025.
To expedite these processes, the Chilean Congress has processed a bill to refine administrative deportation procedures. The initiative aims to reduce the judicial appeal period from 10 to 5 days, improve notification methods, and provide new tools to locate and execute firm deportation orders.
