Chilean government reinstates First Lady's Cabinet
The administration of President José Antonio Kast has officially reinstated the First Lady's Cabinet to support Pía Adriasola. This move reverses a 2022 decision made during the Gabriel Boric administration, which had eliminated the office following a restructuring of the role of the presidential spouse.
According to a resolution signed by Presidential Administrative Director Julio Feres, the new cabinet is tasked with providing comprehensive advisory services for Adriasola's official, social, and cultural activities. Key responsibilities include the development and monitoring of initiatives related to women, childhood, families, and the elderly, as well as coordinating social and cultural projects with public and private entities.
The team includes cabinet chief Miguel Rojas and territorial head Emilio Silva, both members of the Republican Party. Other staff members include journalists Catalina Ariztía and Paula Elizalde, along with advisor María Gatica. While the cabinet is restored within the presidential structure, Adriasola has opted to keep the network of community foundations under the jurisdiction of their respective ministries, with the exception of the Foundation of Youth and Children's Orchestras of Chile (FOJI).
