Chile school sports initiatives engage over 150 students in Atacama and Magallanes
The Club Atlético Batallón de Atacama organized a basketball‑focused sporting event at Escuela Luis Uribe in Tierra Amarilla, Atacama Region, involving more than 150 students. The program featured recreation stations, motor games and basketball challenges, and concluded with certificates and information about the club’s free weekly basketball workshops. The activity was supported by Lundin Mining Candelaria and praised by the school director Javier Santos.
In the Magallanes Region, students from Escuela 18 de Septiembre took part in a participatory council organized by the Programa Crecer en Movimiento of the IND Magallanes. The forum gathered students’ views on physical activity and highlighted the school’s status as a model institution receiving funding for sports, nutrition and psychological support. Officials, including Seremi de Deportes Jacques Roux and director Francisco Delgado, emphasized the importance of sport for the physical and mental development of children.
