Chile sees growth in winter and adventure tourism
Chile is seeing a significant rise in winter tourism, driven by both domestic families and international visitors. Local travelers are increasingly opting for active adventure tourism over traditional relaxation. This trend includes low-impact activities such as trekking, horseback riding, and visiting snow centers, as families seek to connect with nature and disconnect from digital screens.
On an international level, Chile remains a premier destination for snow in Latin America. Data from the Asociación de Centros de Ski de Chile (ACESKI) indicates that more than 1.2 million skiers visited mountain centers during 2025. International interest is particularly high among Brazilian tourists, who account for 77% of international reservations recorded in Santiago.
