Chile Senate approves National Teletón Day
On 4 August, the Senate of Chile unanimously approved a bill that would designate the first Saturday of November each year as National Teletón Day, with the following Sunday set as National Family Encounter Day. The measure, backed by all 40 senators present, now moves to the Chamber of Deputies for further consideration.
During the session, the Minister Secretary General of the Presidency, José García Ruminot, highlighted the long‑standing impact of the Teletón charity on Chilean society. María José Zaldívar, director general of Fundación Teletón, praised the bipartisan support, noting that legislators from across the political spectrum endorsed the initiative.
