Chile Starts Prefactibility for New High-Complexity Hospital in Arica

Chile's Health Minister May Chomali announced that the project for a new high‑complexity hospital in Arica has received technical approval to begin the prefactibility stage. The planned facility will include about 140 hospital beds, three major‑surgery pavilions and will be built on a 12,000‑square‑metre public‑land site on Avenida Capitán Ávalos. It aims to expand regional health capacity, reduce pressure on the Dr. Juan Noé Regional Hospital and provide more local services.

The announcement also noted that, in partnership with the University of Tarapacá, the first two specialist doctors trained for the region will start in the second half of the year, with the expectation they will remain in Arica. The prefactibility phase will produce technical and pre‑investment studies before moving to feasibility and entry into the National Investment System.
