Chile survey finds economic instability tops citizens' fears

The seventh edition of the Bienestar Survey, conducted by Mutual de Seguros de Chile with Cadem and the Adolfo Ibáñez Business School, shows that economic and labour instability has become the main concern of Chileans. Fifty‑five percent of respondents mentioned it as their top fear, a rise of twenty points from the 2025 survey. Financial stability is now the leading aspiration, cited by 39% of participants.

Crime and drug issues fell to 48% of mentions, down from 56% the previous year, with the greatest decline in the Metropolitan Region and the north. Nonetheless, immigration remains a notable concern in the north, noted by 49% and 42% of respondents respectively. Regional problems related to wages and employment account for 33% of mentions, while inflation and rising prices represent 28%, double their share in the prior survey. Poverty and inequality were mentioned by 19%, health by 14%, public transport by 12% and housing by 11%.
