Argentina raises bus and taxi fares in multiple regions
The national government increased fares on 104 federally‑run bus lines by 2%, raising the minimum SUBE‑registered ticket from $728.28 to $742.81 and bringing the cumulative rise to 6% over the last quarter. The hike applies only to national routes (numbers 1‑195) and does not affect municipal or provincial services.
In Mendoza Province, the provincial mobility authority approved a 25.2% tariff increase for taxis and remises, setting new maximum fares that vary by zone and time of day. Business chambers of taxi owners criticized the measure, saying the increase exceeds the roughly 40% rise in operating costs and harms passengers.
A separate regional fare adjustment was announced for the corridor between Mendoza and the Valle de Uco, and in San Rafael the price of medium‑distance bus trips to Mendoza or Malargüe now matches the cost of traveling to the neighboring province of San Luis after recent increases. These combined adjustments affect thousands of daily commuters across several Argentine provinces.
