Chile U20 rugby defeats Romania 50-9 in World Rugby Challenger
Chile's U20 national rugby team, known as Los Cóndores, secured their second victory in the World Rugby U20 Challenger tournament with a 50-9 win over Romania. This follows their previous victory against Hong Kong.
Romania initially took a 6-0 lead in the first half through penalty kicks by Antonio Mitrea, aided by a temporary yellow card issued to Chile's Max Schlesinger. However, Chile responded with a try from Rafael Silva in the 21st minute. Chile dominated the remainder of the first half with additional tries from Silva and Ignacio Valdés, leading 21-6 at halftime.
In the second half, Romania managed to extend their lead slightly with another penalty, but Chile regained control. Tries from Lukas Winkler, Tomás Queirolo, Santiago Wood, and Cristian Riquelme, supported by conversions from Jaime Soler, finalized the score at 50-9. The tournament is being held at the CARR in La Reina, Chile, and continues until October 17.
