Chilean Air Force prepares for leadership change and border training
The Chilean Air Force (FACh) has begun preparations for an upcoming change of command ceremony scheduled for October 30 at El Bosque Air Base. Five F-16 AM MLU fighter jets from the 7th and 8th Aviation Groups arrived at Pudahuel Air Base to participate in the protocol, which will mark the transition from Air General Hugo Rodríguez González to Air General Leonardo Romanini Gutiérrez, appointed by President José Antonio Kast.
In a separate operational development, the IV Air Brigade conducted specialized training at Chabunco Air Base in Magallanes. The program, led by the 33rd Telecommunications and Detection Group, provided instruction to personnel from the Army, Navy, and Carabineros on border observation posts. The training aims to improve detection, reporting, and coordination regarding aerial traffic and movements in frontier zones where extreme geography and weather complicate surveillance.
