Chilean Air Force transfers A-36 Halcón to University of Concepción
The Chilean Air Force (FACh) has transferred an A-36 Halcón aircraft to the University of Concepción to serve as a practical educational resource for Aerospace Civil Engineering students. Previously used for combat pilot training until 2022, the aircraft will now allow students to move beyond theoretical equations and simulations to study real aeronautical structures.
The aircraft, which arrived at the campus without its engine, will be used to analyze structural elements, navigation systems, propulsion components, avionics, and maintenance procedures. Students will engage in hands-on activities such as inspection, component identification, and understanding system integration.
University Rector Jacqueline Sepúlveda noted that the aircraft was moved from Iquique to Santiago before being transported by land to Concepción. Air General Hugo Rodríguez González stated that the agreement aims to support the future of Chile's aeronautical industry by providing sustainable training and projection for young professionals.
