Chilean and Mexican communities hold cultural celebrations
Chilean and Mexican communities held significant cultural celebrations to mark their respective national holidays.
In New York City, over 600 members of the Chilean community gathered in Times Square to celebrate Fiestas Patrias. The event featured traditional cueca dancing performed by national champions and the group Tierra Linda from Talca. Organized by the Asociación Chilena de North Carolina, the celebration included the display of the Chilean flag and the singing of the national anthem.
In Val’Quirico, Mexico, the musical production ‘Malinche’ by Nacho Cano participated in the September 15 Independence Day festivities. The performance included 20 actors, dancers, and musicians. Actress Arantxa Lomelí led the traditional ‘Grito de Independencia’ ceremony, which was accompanied by mariachi music and fireworks in the town's main square.
