Chilean Army rescue patrol demonstrates capabilities in Iquique

The Army's Military Relief and Rescue Patrol (PARME), part of the 6th Command Group “Leucotón”, participated in the 3rd Disaster Risk Reduction Fair held at the ZOFRI esplanade in Iquique. The event was organized by the National Service for Disaster Prevention and Response (SENAPRED), the Tarapacá Regional Presidential Delegation, and ZOFRI.

During the demonstration, PARME personnel performed a practical vertical stretcher descent using rope systems to simulate evacuating a person from an elevated structure. The patrol also showcased specialized equipment used for search, rescue, and evacuation operations. The activity aimed to strengthen community ties and highlight the importance of coordinated institutional responses to emergencies within the geographic conditions of the Tarapacá Region.
