Chilean authorities discuss Ley Karin implementation and legislative challenges

In the Ñuble region of Chile, the Instituto de Seguridad Laboral (ISL) and Universidad del Alba held a technical seminar focused on the implementation of 'Ley Karin' (Law 21.643) and its connection to psychosocial risk surveillance protocols. Regional authorities and specialists emphasized the law's role in fostering a culture of early prevention against workplace violence and harassment.

Despite the focus on prevention, the law has faced legislative scrutiny. Some deputies have proposed suspending the application of Ley Karin for five years, citing an alleged workload overload within the Dirección del Trabajo. Legal experts have criticized this proposal, arguing that suspending the law could be interpreted as a move to hinder investigations into workplace misconduct and would represent a regression in the protection of workers' rights.
