Chilean authorities work to clear snow-blocked Route 41-CH
Authorities in Chile are working to clear Route 41-CH following significant damage caused by avalanches and heavy snow accumulation. The road, a strategic international route connecting Chile and Argentina, remains closed from the Juntas del Toro border complex toward the high mountains.
Snow accumulation in certain sectors has exceeded 8 meters, complicating recovery efforts. While access is currently limited to emergency vehicles, police, and authorized personnel, the Ministry of Public Works plans to deploy specialized teams in late September to advance clearing operations toward the international border. The Dirección de Vialidad continues to deploy machinery and personnel to restore connectivity essential for regional tourism and economic activity.
