Chilean Chamber of Deputies approves fast-track property regularization for disaster victims

The Chilean Chamber of Deputies has unanimously approved a government-led project designed to accelerate the regularization of small real estate properties in areas affected by natural disasters. The initiative, which now moves to the Senate, modifies Decree Law No. 2,695 to establish an extraordinary, free, and expedited mechanism for victims.

Currently, the standard administrative process for property regularization can take approximately 18 months. This delay often prevents disaster-affected families from accessing state subsidies and reconstruction aid. Deputy Juan Carlos Beltrán Silva, President of the Housing and National Assets Commission, noted that the project aims to remove these barriers so that families do not face a second tragedy due to bureaucratic delays.
