Chilean cinema initiatives include film cycles and festival calls
Chile is hosting several initiatives celebrating national cinema. Sala Nemesio and the Association of Directors and Screenwriters of Chile (ADG) are presenting ‘Hecho en Chile,’ a cycle of five films from different eras. Held every Tuesday in September, the screenings include discussions with directors to explore the creative processes behind works released between 1974 and 2015.
In the Ñuble region, the Ñuble National Film Festival has opened calls for its 8th edition, scheduled for January 19–23, 2027, in Chillán. The festival invites filmmakers and students to submit works for three competitive categories, with a deadline of September 30.
Additionally, the Cineteca Nacional is hosting ‘Cine UDD: 20 years, 20 films.’ This cycle, running from August 26 to September 12, showcases 20 feature films produced by alumni of the Universidad del Desarrollo’s film program since its founding in 2006.
