Chilean coast issued marine swell warning from Golfo de Penas to Arica

The Valparaíso Marine Meteorology Zonal Center has issued a marine swell warning for the Chilean coast, spanning from Golfo de Penas to Arica, including the Juan Fernández Archipelago. The alert, driven by an active frontal system in the southern part of the country, predicts west to southwest swells.

The conditions are expected to manifest from Wednesday, August 26, through Friday, August 28. Peak intensity is projected to coincide with high tide periods, specifically between 10:00–11:00 and 22:00–23:00. This marks the 23rd swell warning for the continental coasts this year.

Maritime authorities advise the public to exercise caution, avoid rocky areas, refrain from entering the sea, and cease unauthorized nautical or sporting activities during the event.
