Chilean community in Río Grande prepares for four-day national celebrations

The Chilean Consulate in Río Grande has announced a four-day cultural program to celebrate Chilean national holidays from September 17 to September 20. The festivities include a folklore gala at the Casa de la Cultura, organized by the group Raíces y Hermandad, and a flag-raising ceremony at the ACHER association on September 18.

Consul Julio Villarroel Alarcón noted that the celebrations are open to the wider community and highlighted the significant Chilean presence in the region. The consulate's jurisdiction, covering Río Grande and Tolhuin, officially includes approximately 25,000 Chilean citizens, with an additional 25,000 individuals potentially eligible for nationality through descent.
