Chilean Comptroller demands Justice Undersecretariat respond in three days

The Comptroller General of the Republic has issued a formal demand to the Undersecretariat of Justice, granting a three-day deadline to provide a requested report. This follows the authority's failure to comply with previous information requests dating back to July 13.

The dispute stems from a complaint filed by the National Federation for Access to Justice (FENADAJ) regarding the appointment of a Coordinator to implement the new National Service for Access to Justice and Victims' Defense. FENADAJ argues that the appointment contradicts regulations, which specify the role of a Director. The position was previously held by lawyer Macarena Cortés before she was removed by the administration of President José Antonio Kast.

The Comptroller warned that failure to meet this new deadline could result in disciplinary measures against the responsible official.
