Chilean courts and municipalities address infrastructure and safety issues

In Chiguayante, the Court of Appeals of Concepción has ordered Inmobiliaria Montevista SpA to implement containment measures following mudslides and sediment flooding in the Lonco Norte sector. The court ruled that the company acted illegally and arbitrarily by failing to prevent landslides while constructing a building on a steep slope. The company is now required to stabilize hillsides, channel rainwater, and clean the affected area under technical supervision to prevent further risks to residents and property.

In Loncoche, municipal authorities expressed concern regarding recent damage to pedestrian shelters in the southeastern sector. The damage occurred during an unauthorized activity. Local officials noted that the destruction of this public infrastructure impacts students, elderly residents, and workers who rely on these shelters for protection against adverse weather, while also diverting municipal resources away from other community priorities.
