Chilean courts grant limited parole in Rancagua and Concepción sessions
Parole commissions in the Chilean jurisdictions of Rancagua and Concepción have released results from their recent sessions, showing high rejection rates for conditional liberty requests.
In Rancagua, the commission approved 28 out of 354 applications (7.9%) during its second session of 2026. In Concepción, the commission approved 50 out of 383 applications (approximately 13.6%), rejecting 86.42% of the total. The beneficiaries included 45 men and 5 women. Approved inmates originated from the Biobío Penitentiary Center (20), Concepción Detention Center (11), Mulchén Preventive Detention Center (8), Cañete Detention Center (5), Arauco Preventive Detention Center (4), and Yumbel Preventive Detention Center (2).
