Chilean cultural initiatives launch in Los Ríos and Arica
Cultural initiatives are expanding across Chile, focusing on regional mapping and indigenous representation. In the Los Ríos region, the Seremi de las Culturas, las Artes y el Patrimonio has launched a call for artists and organizations to participate in a regional mapping of the performing arts. This initiative aims to identify and characterize theater, dance, circus arts, puppetry, oral storytelling, and opera across 12 communes to better design support policies and cultural promotion programs.
In Arica, the audiovisual trilogy ‘Historias de Nuestra Tierra’ premiered at the Cine Municipal. The project, which includes the short films ‘Don Renaldo’, ‘Kutimuy’, and ‘Sica Sica’, resulted from an Intercultural Audiovisual Workshop led by the National Service of Cultural Heritage. The workshop focused on the identities of indigenous peoples and Afro-descendant communities, providing a platform for collective creation and the protection of cultural rights through cinema.
