Chilean Davis Cup team begins training for series against Spain

The Chilean national tennis team has begun preparations for their upcoming Davis Cup series against Spain, scheduled for September 18–20 at the Court Central Anita Lizana in the Estadio Nacional. Led by captain Nicolás Massú, the Chilean squad includes Alejandro Tabilo, Christian Garín, Tomás Barrios, and Matías Soto. There is also the possibility of a fifth player, 17-year-old Benjamín Pérez, joining the roster.

On the Spanish side, captain David Ferrer is leading a team that includes 19-year-old Rafael Jódar, who is considered a significant threat to the Chilean players. While there was initial uncertainty regarding the Spanish roster, Jódar has confirmed his participation.

Despite previous announcements, Rafael Nadal will not travel to Chile for the series. Although he was expected to attend, he will instead fulfill other personal commitments and will not be present at the Estadio Nacional for the matches.
