Chilean Defense Minister commemorates Battle of Rancagua
Chilean Defense Minister Fernando Barros led a civic-military ceremony and parade in Rancagua to commemorate the 212th anniversary of the Battle of Rancagua, a pivotal event in the country's independence process.
The event included over 4,000 participants, such as students, civil society organizations, military and security force schools, and Gendarmerie units. During his address, Minister Barros emphasized the importance of national unity, citing the historical lack of coordination during the 1814 defeat as a lesson for the present. He stated that the country must work cooperatively to overcome current challenges and urged new generations to view the history of Rancagua as a lesson in collective effort.
