Universidad de Chile pursues third transfer reinforcement
Universidad de Chile is actively working to secure a third reinforcement before the close of the winter transfer window. Sporting manager Manuel Mayo confirmed that the club is making efforts to bring in an additional player to satisfy the requirements of coach Fernando Gago, following the signings of Gonzalo Reyna and Tobías Reinhart.
Central to these discussions is the potential return of defender Igor Lichnovsky. Mayo stated that he maintains a good relationship with Lichnovsky and that the player has expressed a strong desire to return to the club. While negotiations have been discussed, Mayo remained cautious about the timing, suggesting a return could potentially occur as early as December.
Additionally, the club's current defensive situation involves Franco Calderón. While the club is looking to advance with Lichnovsky, Calderón's status as a substitute under Gago has led to speculation regarding his departure, which could impact the club's ability to finalize new defensive signings.
