Chilean Golden Wedding Bonus reaches 15-year milestone

The Chilean state benefit known as the 'Bono Bodas de Oro' (Golden Wedding Bonus) is celebrating 15 years of operation. The program provides financial recognition to married couples who have been together for 50 years and meet specific legal requirements, including belonging to the most vulnerable 80% of the population.

Nationally, more than 714,000 people have received the benefit, with over 7,000 beneficiaries located in the Tarapacá Region. In Tarapacá alone, the state has allocated more than 1.2 billion pesos toward this initiative. Total national investment in the program exceeds 116 billion pesos.

To qualify, couples must be registered in the Social Household Registry and demonstrate residency in the country for four of the last five years. The benefit is also available to widows or widowers who met the requirements during their marriage. Starting October 1, 2026, the payment amount per marriage will be 482,295 pesos. Applications can be submitted via video assistance through ChileAtiende or in person at IPS branches.
