Chilean health initiatives expand mental health support and training
Health initiatives in Chile are focusing on mental health through both community engagement and professional training. In Loncoche, the Municipal Health Department organized a workshop at the Liceo Bicentenario Técnico Profesional Andrés Bello. Using theater as a tool, students participated in interactive activities to share their experiences and perceptions regarding mental health, aiming to strengthen self-esteem, confidence, and emotional well-being.
Simultaneously, the Hospital Dr. Gustavo Fricke has launched a training series for Primary Health Care (APS) medical teams. Led by the hospital's Mental Health Department, the program aims to improve clinical competencies for more efficient patient care. Recent sessions have focused on the pharmacological treatment of unipolar depression, providing primary care physicians and psychologists with tools for accurate diagnosis and effective patient referral to secondary care levels.
