Chilean health officials inaugurate new medical facilities in Valparaíso

Health officials in Chile have inaugurated new medical facilities and pledged support for elderly care initiatives in the Valparaíso Region.

In Viña del Mar, Mayor Macarena Ripamonti and Health Minister May Chomalí inaugurated the Miraflores Alto SAR (High Resolution Service Center). The facility is designed to serve over 109,000 people, providing 24-hour emergency care, X-ray services, and specialized rooms for respiratory illnesses. The center features advanced imaging technology intended to facilitate direct referrals to secondary emergency systems, such as Hospital Fricke, without lengthy delays.

In Quillota, Minister Chomalí expressed support for a project to establish an Integral Wellbeing Center for the Elderly at the former San Martín Hospital. Following a visit to the Beatita Benavides Shelter, the Minister committed to administrative actions to help realize the project. During her visit to the province, Chomalí also met with local leaders and cancer organizations to discuss early diagnosis, waiting times, and the capacity of the public health network.
