Chilean healthcare expands regional medical access
Medical services in Chile are seeing advancements in regional accessibility through specialized surgery and digital technology. In the Maule Region, the Mi Visión Ophthalmological Center performed the first cornea transplant in the area. Led by specialists Dr. Rolf Raimann and Dr. Jaime Bawarshi, the outpatient procedure allows patients to undergo high-complexity surgery and recover at home without traveling to other regions.
In the Aysén Region, a telemedicine program funded by the Regional Government and implemented by the Aysén Health Service has facilitated over 2,000 medical consultations in July alone. The initiative involves an investment of approximately 334 million pesos to provide technological platforms and computer equipment to rural health posts, community hospitals, and centers in locations such as Villa Mañihuales and Puerto Cisnes. This strategy aims to strengthen primary care and reduce waiting times for remote populations.
