Chilean guilds support MK4 capital markets and housing reform
Chilean business and financial guilds have expressed favorable initial reactions to the MK4 reform, a legislative package presented by the government focusing on capital markets, housing access, and savings.
The reform includes the creation of the National Housing Fund (FONAVI) and mechanisms designed to incentivize savings for down payments. The Chilean Chamber of Construction (CChC) noted that these measures target key barriers to homeownership, specifically the difficulty of accumulating necessary savings and securing mortgage financing under favorable conditions.
The Association of Banks and Financial Institutions (ABIF) also welcomed the initiatives, stating they are relevant for expanding financing alternatives for both individuals and companies. The banking sector has indicated its intention to participate in technical discussions to refine specific aspects of the proposal.
