Chilean independent theaters host acclaimed international films

Independent movie theaters in Chile are expanding their programming with two notable international productions.

The documentary ‘Para vivir. El implacable tiempo de Pablo Milanés’, directed by Fabien Pisani, begins its run in the Red Salas de Cine Chile network on September 3. The film, a co-production between Mexico, Spain, Cuba, and the United States, was developed over fifteen years of recordings and conversations. It explores the life, political convictions, and personal contradictions of the Nueva Trova musician Pablo Milanés, featuring testimonies from artists such as Silvio Rodríguez and Joaquín Sabina.

Additionally, the film ‘La naturaleza de las cosas invisibles’, directed by Brazilian filmmaker Rafaela Camelo, has arrived in Chilean cinemas. A co-production between Chile and Brazil, the film premiered at the Berlinale and has received over 20 international awards. The story follows the bond between two ten-year-old girls in a hospital, exploring themes of childhood, family connections, and loss through the perspective of four generations of women.
