Chilean Inter-school Athletics Championship sets seven records

The 78th Female Inter-school Athletics Championship and the 91st Male Inter-school Tournament have reached a historic milestone, with female participation surpassing male numbers for the first time. Held at the Estadio Nacional and the Mario Recordón athletic field, the event features 4,327 athletes representing 363 institutions from across Chile and Arequipa, Peru.

During the competition, seven new records were established. Notable performances include Florencia Rojas (Alta Cumbre) in the 300m hurdles with a time of 44.26 seconds, and Amanda Verni Torres (Colegio San Miguel) in pole vault with a mark of 3.51 meters. Other record-breakers include the Verbo Divino boys' team in the 4x100m relay (42.66 seconds), the Los Alerces girls' team in the same relay (48.27 seconds), and Alonso Guzmán (Saint George) in the 400m hurdles (52.26 seconds). Earlier marks were set by Nicolás Seydewitz in triple jump and Tomás Peñaloza in the 300m sprint.

The tournament, organized by Club Atlético Santiago since 1934, has historically produced Olympic and world-class athletes such as Sebastián Keitel and Martina Weil.
