Chilean Interior Undersecretary faces criticism over military jet use

Chilean Interior Undersecretary Máximo Pavez is facing internal criticism and public controversy following a trip to the Dominican Republic aboard a Chilean Air Force (FACh) Gulfstream G-IV. The trip was organized on short notice after President José Antonio Kast called an emergency meeting to determine Chile's representation at the American Coalition Against Cartels (A3C) summit.

Estimates suggest the mission cost approximately 90 million pesos, with fuel alone projected to reach 50 million pesos. While officials stated that commercial flights were not viable due to high costs and scheduling conflicts with the summit, the decision has drawn scrutiny. Additionally, Interior Minister Claudio Alvarado reportedly reproached Pavez for social media posts made while aboard the institutional aircraft.
